Hip hop MC E. Grizzly teamed up with punk drummer Mike Kuhn, of NAH and 1994! to make The NAH Mixtape which is a hip hop experiment of sorts. The idea was to create a new minimalist, hip hop, grungy sound with little to no use of guitars, pianos, or synths. Just a MC, a drummer, and a MPC. The project originally started a year ago with 1994! and E. Grizzly. Mike Kuhn, the executive producer of the project, wanted to achieve an even more minimalist sound which sparked Mike’s production project called NAH. The NAH Mixtape consists of vocals by E. Grizzly, production from NAH and some bonus track production from the punk band 1994! which is Mike Kuhn and guitarist Chris Diehm.
“I guess when it comes down to it we wanted to do something different, which I’m always down for,” says E. Grizzly. “It reminds me of a mix of Onyx and Zach De La Rocha’s project One Day as a Lion but with it’s own twist. It was alot of fun putting it all together.” This mix is brought to you by NAH, P.K.G. out of Philadelphia and No Heroes in Lancaster, PA.
Here’s more info on the NAH Mixtape from Skope Magazine in Boston. Or better yet Baston. It sounds better with the accent.
